These answers explain the planning choices before a real site assessment. Use them to specify the work and identify missing evidence. The provider must confirm the actual conditions, availability and cost.
01 /Use the answer to frame your next question
Keep the relevant report, recording and service dates available. If information is missing, ask how it changes the assessment rather than treating uncertainty as a completed check.
02 /How should you use these answers in a commercial enquiry?
Use each answer as a scope question, then attach the evidence already held for the property. A manager can organize asset names, dates and records without diagnosing a buried pipe. Ask the provider to identify which proposed task answers the unresolved question, how it will be reported and which access constraints might prevent completion. This makes the enquiry useful even when the pipe route or original drawings are incomplete.
Keep emergency assistance, planned inspection, routine maintenance and capital repair as distinct decisions. The person authorizing a survey may not have authority to approve a construction change. Include the appropriate decision maker and approval process in the private request. For a food-service establishment, check current City wastewater guidance separately from the cleaning quote. The answers below do not set a universal maintenance interval or confirm a contractor’s availability.
FAQAll questions
Does a commercial inspection include cleaning?
Cleaning is included only when the written scope says so. Ask which assets it covers, whether it occurs before or after recording, and what happens if the first camera view is obscured. A contractor may propose clearing as a prerequisite to a useful survey, but the manager should know its approval boundary and reporting purpose. Keep cleaning and inspection identifiable on the completed record.
Is grease interceptor servicing the same as hydro jetting?
Interceptor servicing and pipe cleaning address different parts of the wastewater path. A visit can include both, but the scope should name each task and the affected asset. Keep interceptor service records separate from footage of a kitchen branch or downstream sewer. Ask which records the operator must retain under current local guidance; a clean fixture does not document the entire site network.
Can a condo board request a shared sewer survey?
A board or authorized manager can prepare a request for defined shared assets. Include available site drawings, building references, access arrangements, earlier reports and the decision the survey should support. Confirm who can permit occupant entry and approve extra work. The provider must establish actual coverage and availability. Legal responsibility for a particular section should be confirmed through the appropriate property and utility records.
Who decides the maintenance interval?
Agree the interval with a qualified provider using the site’s use, incident pattern and inspection evidence. Keep the rationale with the plan so the next manager understands why an interval was chosen. After another incident or a change in use, review that rationale rather than treating the calendar as permanent. The portal does not prescribe one frequency for every kitchen, condo or commercial building.
What does HAUSE do?
HAUSE provides independent information and collects requests that can be reviewed by the team and, with consent, shared with a qualified provider where available. HAUSE does not operate a cleaning crew, perform a camera survey or issue a property-specific engineering opinion. Use the guides to prepare the question and the quote form to share the actual location, records and contact permission.
Can work happen after hours?
State the preferred window, opening hours, delivery restrictions and any tenant access constraints in the enquiry. A provider must confirm a workable schedule and equipment plan before you rely on it. After-hours availability alone does not resolve access or safe operating constraints. Ask who will be present to approve changes during the visit and how occupants will receive any instructions from the provider.
Does a clean camera image mean the whole site is sound?
A clear image supports observations within the recorded section under those inspection conditions. It does not document another building connection, an inaccessible trunk or material outside the camera’s view. Ask for start and end points, interruptions and uninspected assets beside the conclusion. Where footage is limited, the report should explain the remaining question instead of presenting incomplete coverage as a site-wide result.
Can this portal quote a final repair price?
The scope builder organizes a request; it does not produce a contractor’s binding repair price. A real proposal needs the relevant evidence and an assessment of access, method, utilities, work constraints and restoration. Ask whether additional locating or clearer footage is needed first. Compare included tasks and exclusions alongside the total, because two proposals can describe different work at the same property.
How do I compare bids?
Give bidders the same asset list, intended inspection extent, records and reporting requirements. Compare access assumptions, cleaning sequence, original footage, written findings, locating, work window, disposal and exclusions. Ask how added tasks are approved and what happens if the survey cannot be completed. Mark differences before comparing totals. A cheap camera-only appointment is not equivalent to a multi-asset survey with a specified report.
What if sewage is rising now?
An active incident needs appropriate urgent assistance before a planned condition survey. Keep people away from affected water and wet electrical equipment, and avoid adding wastewater to the affected system. Calgary 311 can assess possible City infrastructure involvement. Retain resulting service records for a later inspection once access is safe. A HAUSE quote request does not book emergency response or confirm an arrival time.
Should every pipe run have its own identifier?
Give each requested asset a consistent identifier whenever several runs, buildings or entry points are involved. It can be a plain label agreed with the provider, provided the quote, recording and report use it consistently. Identify the source of route information and label assumptions. This lets a later reviewer distinguish the surveyed kitchen branch from the shared downstream trunk without guessing from the address.
What should happen when an inspection stops early?
The provider should identify the stopping point, reason for stopping and section still unseen. Ask what another task could reveal and whether it needs a separate approval. That might involve appropriate clearing, another access point or a return visit, subject to the actual site assessment. Keep the incomplete portion as an open asset-list item; it should not disappear when the completed footage is filed.
Do I need a coded asset-management report?
Ask the intended reviewer what reporting format is necessary for its decision or records system. Confirm the format and provider capability before the survey. A manager’s usable camera summary and an engineer’s formal asset specification can require different work. Do not assume abbreviations in an invoice prove a particular reporting standard was followed. Keep the agreed deliverables with the final files.
Who should hold the original footage?
The owner or managing organization should retain a durable copy of the agreed deliverables. Confirm how to download the original video, whether a link expires and how each asset is identified. Keep the written summary, limitations and later questions with it. A change of manager or contractor should not leave the property dependent on an old login or an unavailable service provider.
How does the commercial outline become a private request?
Use the builder to choose the property context, purpose and known records, then continue to the quote form. Review and edit the outline, provide contact information and submit with consent. Exploring the model or preparing the outline does not send it. Ask HAUSE has a separate follow-up form; review that brief and its consent before sharing a conversation with the team.
